L1B Work in Existing Dwellings Work Covered This approved document covers the following: a. extensions to dwellings (heated) as well as conservatories greater than 30sq m floor area b. when creating a new dwelling (material change of use), such as conversions from non-dwellings as well as increasing or decreasing the number of dwellings within a discrete building. c. material alterations to existing dwellings d. the provision of a controlled fitting. This is where there are replacement or additional windows, roof windows, r rooflight or doors (even unglazed doors it appears) e. the provision or extension of a controlled service. Original provision or replacement of a heating or hot water system including pipe insulation, mechanical ventilation system, air conditioning (coolers), fixed internal and external lighting (in some circumstances) f. the provision or renovation of a thermal element (a wall, floor or roof which separates a conditioned <heated> area from an unheated or external area). There is extensive and somewhat confusing advice about these elements. I hope to expand on these points in the near future (as and when time and health permits!)
